June 29, 2012 | The wealthy British medical charity The Wellcome Trust says it will withhold researchers' final grant payments -- typically 10% of the total -- if they fail to publish their results in open access scientific journals. Moreover, any research papers that are not freely available will not be counted as part of a scientist's track record when Wellcome assesses any future applications for grant funding. The Guardian
